Already glimpsed in the form of a camouflaged prototype, the station wagon derived from the Nio ET5 will be a reality in a few weeks. The first photos of this model mainly intended for Europe have arrived.
Some German manufacturers, yet specialists in the genre, seem to have already marked the end of station wagons. At Nio, on the other hand, we decided to embark on this segment, which is very specific to our continent, in an attempt to break into it. Note that the maneuver is not new and it is not a guarantee of success. Ask what they think of Cadillac and its CTS…
The now usual publications of the MIT (Chinese Ministry of Industry and Technology) offer us a first view of the Nio ET5 Break and its characteristics. It’s hard to get a complete idea of the style with just one 3/4 view from the front and one from the rear. But it will certainly not be a charging break.
This is confirmed by the dimensions, which are strictly identical to those of the sedan…
Length | 4790 mm |
Width | 1960 mm |
Height | 1499 mm |
Wheelbase | 2888 mm |
The mechanical part will also be identical with a 150 kW / 204 hp front motor, a 210 kW / 286 hp rear motor (Total 360 kW / 490 hp and 700 Nm) and 75 or 100 kWh batteries. These are supplied by CALB or CATL, but it does not matter to the customer since he has access to the network of battery exchange stations. The latter now has 12 stations in Europe since the opening this week of the first station in Denmark.
The 150 kWh semi-solid type battery will also be there. But as Nio has already indicated, its distribution will be very limited at first.
