The second generation of the GLC is available as a coupe. Three plug-in hybrid engines, including a diesel, are planned.
If Mercedes intends to clean up its range, sorting does not concern SUVs! Thus, the GLC remains faithful to a double offer, classic and coupe. The “normal” version was completely renewed in mid-2022. Here is now its “planed” variant.
The recipe is now well known: we find the front part of the GLC, the rear is revised with a pavilion which plunges quickly, a bezel strongly inclined in its continuity and a trunk with a high break, which here forms a spoiler. This tapered silhouette promotes aero.
The drag coefficient is also improved compared to the older generation, going from 0.30 to 0.27. The template moves little, with a length of 4.76 meters, or 3 cm more. To recognize the new, it will be necessary to focus on the optics: at the front, the headlights now touch the grille, at the rear the lights are in a triangle.

The new Mercedes GLC offers a diesel plug-in hybrid
On board, we are now on familiar ground, with a dashboard used by the normal GLC and the C-Class. The center console is a large 11.9-inch vertical touch screen. Facing the driver, another 12.3-inch screen. Inevitably, opting for the coupe means sacrificing practicality a bit, due to the pronounced drop in the roof. Attention on plug-in models: the trunk volume is only 390 liters!
The plug-in precisely, there are three variants. There are two gasoline, the 300e and 400e with a similar base: a four-cylinder 2.0 and a 100 kW electric block. The difference therefore concerns the power of the thermal: 204 hp for the first, 252 hp for the second. This gives cumulative maximum powers of 313 and 381 hp. The third plug-in offer is a diesel, the 300 de, with a 2.0 of 197 hp and again the electric of 100 kW, for a total of 335 hp.
These three models receive a large 31.2 kWh battery. Depending on the equipment, the mixed WLTP all-electric ranges range from 113 to 131 km. There is an 11 kW AC recharge as standard. Mercedes will offer 60 kW direct current charging as an option.
This new GLC Coupé will arrive in dealerships in the summer of 2023.
