Max Verstappen has foiled all rumors about a possible engine change during the Saudi Arabian GP. According to him, that would not bring much.
A lot of rumors led to a possible engine change on the car of the championship leader. The idea being to overcome the mechanical problems and hope to counter the overkill of Lewis Hamilton’s engine block at the end of the season. This possibility was initially ousted by Helmut Marko -Responsible for the young pilots sector-. But the leader of the red bull stable still left a slight doubt.
a doubt finally swept away by the words of Max Verstappen at a press conference yesterday. The Red Bull driver says that wouldn’t change much:
“Well, we don’t have that peak power with a new engine like Mercedes. Our engine is actually pretty consistent throughout its life. So changing the engine like that wouldn’t do much for us. ”
The Dutchman admits that the only real condition that would cause an engine change would be a mechanical failure. But on this point, he remains calm for the last 2 rounds of the season:
“From my side, there is no doubt about it. I know what I have in terms of engines and we should normally be able to get by with what we have. ”
