This week, new or upcoming models that have made the news come from all over the world. Three of the main European nations (Germany, Italy and France) were represented with iconic brands, but we were also able to travel to South Korea with the Kia EV9 or even in the United States with the Ford Bronco, a model that smells of America and which is setting its huge wheels on the Old Continent for the very first time in its history. Travelogue.
Alpine A110 San Remo 73
While waiting for its zero-emission replacement which is not expected before 2026, and the widening of the range which should take place in 2025, the A110 range must be animated. Two years is a long time. So, to remember our good memories, Alpine multiplies the limited series on its berlinetta. The latest, the San Remo 73, plays rally with stickers affixed here and there, its black arches reminiscent of the first of the line or its white rims. If the latter caught your eye, you will have to be reactive because there will not be something for everyone, but above all you will have to be ready to pay the price…
Don’t believe us?
BMW 5 Series and i5
No, don’t expect to discover the latest 5 Series version anytime soon. The road sedan will show up a little later. The CEO of the group, however, took advantage of the annual conference to share a photo of this model still hidden under a wide veil but also and above all to give some information about it. We know that, for the very first time in its career, and without much surprise, a 100% electric variant called i5 will be offered in addition to the thermal 5 Series. And this i5 will itself be available in Touring bodywork. A zero-emission station wagon is not yet very commonplace.
Everything we know about them:
Ferrari Roma Spider
Take the one that is undoubtedly the most racy of the current Ferraris, replace the hard roof with a retractable model capable of folding up in about ten seconds, keep the biturbo V8 intact delivering 620 hp and 760 Nm of torque and you get an enticing cocktail on paper that should hit the bull’s eye with the rare few of you who can afford it. Yes, this is Roma we are talking about. Nearly three years after its launch, the Italian GT receives the reinforcement of a Spider variant which will make it possible to appreciate the diva hair in the winds.
Be careful not to lose your head while looking at it:
Ford Bronco
That the main competitor of the Jeep Wrangler in the United States, the Ford Bronco, arrives on our European roads is not great news in itself. We learned that last year. What remained to be known were the specifications of the European model and its prices. If Americans have the choice between two gasoline engines, with us, it will only be distributed with the larger of the two, a 2.7 V6 of 335 hp and 563 Nm of torque. You can imagine that because of its physics, CO2 emissions are very high. However, as the base price is also, the final addition is in fact rather dissuasive.
Judge instead:
Let’s EV9
Do you remember the concept of the same name presented in the course of 2021? Well, if that’s the case, you won’t be surprised by the definitive lines of the Kia EV9 since it looks like two drops of water, or almost. Like the latest productions of the Korean brand, the look is very original. Not so much the profile, very square, it is above all the unusual light signatures that may please or displease, it depends. This monster, approximately 5 m long, will be able to comfortably accommodate 6 or 7 passengers depending on the configuration chosen. With such dimensions, we should nevertheless see it more often in photos than on the road…
Our first impressions:
Mercedes GLA, GLB and GLC Coupe
When you have a range as sprawling as Mercedes, the novelties rain down regularly. In the space of a week however, it’s not one, it’s not two, no, it’s actually three models that have been presented. Just that ! In this case, these are the “smallest” SUVs from the manufacturer at the Star. On the one hand, we have the GLA and GLB which, quite logically since the Class A and CLA were there a short time ago, in turn benefit from a mid-career restyling. Take out the magnifying glass, the changes are not at all obvious. On the other, we have the brand new generation of the GLC Coupé… which will not surprise much more. If everything changes, the developments are modeled on those of its “classic” SUV counterpart, the “very short” GLC… itself very closely derived from the latest C-Class version. In short, only very classic.
To find out all about the revised and corrected GLA and GLB, it’s here:
And to discover the GLC Coupé from every angle, it’s here:
Restyled Renault Captur
It’s not just the Clio that will be restyled shortly, it’s also planned for the Captur later this year, the city car and its SUV version having been launched almost simultaneously in their variant. current. As will be the case for her, the modifications will be quite visible, especially at the front. The new house logo introduced on the electric Mégane will obviously be part of it. It will also be the end of the “C” shaped optics while the shield will be thoroughly revised.
This is what it should look like:
Renault Espace
Expected on March 28, the next generation of Espace has little to hide. This week, no less than two major leaks allowed us to learn more about it. We first got our hands on excerpts from the vehicle’s instructions and discovered that, like the last Scénic (whose days are numbered), the new flagship of the French manufacturer will be less modular than it has not been in the past by becoming a real SUV. The three independent seats in the second row will be replaced by a classic 2/3 1/3 sliding bench seat (phew, anyway!). Small consolation prize, in addition to the length which gains 21 cm compared to the Austral of which it will be the long version, the Space should not in fact lack too much… space with its better wheelbase. Second scoop of the week, it’s a camouflaged model that our spy photographers caught on the road. Yes, the Espace will be distinguished a minimum from the Austral, if only by its rims with a specific design.
If you have to find out more:
Volkswagen ID. 2all
The last important novelty of the week is not really one, it is a concept car… prefiguring the future small electric Volkswagen which will come to be placed below the ID.3. Close to a Polo by its dimensions, it is also close to it by its style, finally especially from the front. Because in profile and seen from the rear, it is more like a small Golf that it makes you think. Compact (the concept is even shorter by 2 cm than a Polo), VW announces impressive habitable dimensions on paper with, in particular, a trunk that would cube an excellent 490 liters (45 liters more than a T-Roc!). Inflation obliges, if the study should not lead to a series model around 20,000 € (this is however the price at which the series translation of the showcar ID. Life should be displayed… which has since been scrapped then, for the benefit of ID. 2all), the price could be relatively measured with a first price announced under €25,000.
However, this is not the only surprise that VW had in store for us… click below to better understand:
