Hyundai Kona N-Line 2023
It was at the beginning of the month that you were able to discover on AP the charismatic features of the second generation of the Hyundai Kona, available in hybrid and electric. The Korean manufacturer has just unveiled the prices of the gasoline/electric tandem version and they turn out to be salty at first sight.
33,400 €, here is the first price of the new Hyundai Kona hybrid, a call rate that places it in the upper range of the category of SUVs of similar size and which we cannot help but put in front of the 27,100 € minimum claimed by its predecessor still currently in the catalog. How to explain such an increase when the technical sheet is exactly the same, the 1.6 with direct injection of 105 hp returning to service with its electric counterpart of 43.5 hp powered by a 1.56 kWh battery to provide a total 141 hp transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox? There are multiple answers that may not fully justify it, but still largely justify it.

First, the newcomer has considerably increased its measurements, stretching from 14.5 cm to now 4.35 m, which is excellent news both for the rear habitability and the volume of the boot which goes from 374 to 466 liters in 5-seater configuration and from 1,156 to 1,300 liters once the back of the rear seat is folded down. Enough to raise the Kona from the most puny to the exact middle in the category of compact SUVs ranging from 4.20 to 4.50 m.
Then, it is now skipping the entry-level Initia to start directly at Intuitive, previously displayed at €28,550. But beware, it is not because the finishes have the same name that their endowments are identical. The Intuitive 2023 vintage thus embeds equipment previously reserved for the Creative upper level at €31,100, such as intelligent bi-LED front lights and rear LED lights, Bluelink connected services, plus navigation on a 12.3-inch central screen instead of 10.25, keyless access and hands-free starting as well as panel recognition. It will even dig into the top-of-the-range Executive at €33,150, front parking assistance, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert with braking function, assistance when exiting the vehicle. for rear passengers and autonomous emergency braking including cyclists. Finally, the air conditioning now becomes dual-zone and the windscreen acoustic.

Hyundai Kona Hybrid 2023: competition among hybrid SUVs
Now at 4.35 m, the new version of the Hyundai Kona sees more competition in front of it. Its biggest rivals, both in terms of footprint, technical specifications and prices, will undoubtedly be the neighbors of the archipelago opposite, the Honda HR-V and Toyota C-HR, but also, and perhaps above all, the cousin from Kia, the freshly renewed Niro and sharing exactly the same mechanics.
