On the night of March 1 to 2, in the chic suburbs of Melbourne, car thieves broke into a garage. But when they left with the Brabham BT21 they were targeting, it didn’t go as planned.
After certainly several days of scouting, the criminals have taken action. They then managed to break into the garage of a house to steal the car inside.
So they found themselves faced with a collector’s item, a Brabham BT21 de 1966. This 1960s Race Car Is Now Extremely Rare (only 6 copies in the world) and therefore extremely expensive. Only here, when leaving with the car, the thieves came across a big problem. They didn’t know how to drive it.
The cars of this era are very different from current models and starting them is not done by snapping your fingers.
Result, after several unsuccessful attempts, the bandits left empty-handed, leaving behind them the beautiful car a few meters from the owner’s home.
Even though the car did not disappear, the attempted theft was still reported to law enforcement. So they went there in order to obtain clues as to the identity of the culprits.
The police also observed that the clutch had been completely destroyedprobably due to multiple failed boot attempts.
