Well, when an infraction is detected, the file of insured vehicles is then systematically consulted, in order to check that everything is in order. An efficient system, which could be further developed.
Indeed, according to our colleagues from the site Radars-Auto.com, radars may soon also be able to ticket vehicles whose technical control would not be up to date. This would then work exactly on the same principle, with a consultation of the Central Technical Body’s files automatically carried out for each vehicle in violation. Nevertheless, and as for insurance, the control would not be done in real time, but only when the infringement is dealt with by the Rennes center. Offenders will then receive two penalties: that for speeding, as well as those for lack of technical control, amounting to 135 €.
Certain limits
In principle, this system would be very easy to set up, since the file of controlled vehicles Already exists. However, there are some limits, including the fact that not all cars are subject to technical control, especially those less than four years old. In addition, in the event of major failures, the vehicles still have the right to circulate for two months while awaiting the check-up. It will therefore be difficult to detect the real abuses of normal situations …
