A tire on your car has just been damaged and you have a tire sealant at your disposal? Perfect, we will explain how to use it.
Whether it is to glean a few precious grams of CO2 because their absence makes vehicles lighter or simply for economic reasons, in order to reduce costs, more and more rare are the cars equipped with a spare wheel. So when the dreaded moment comes for some to have to change a tire after a puncture, you don’t really have a choice, you will have to fall back on another method. One of the easiest ways to repair a tire in this case is to use a tire sealant. Here’s how.
How to use a tire sealant: the steps to follow
First of all, we invite you to see the damage. The bomb can only be used in the event of a light puncture and not if the latter is too deep or if there is a tear. If it’s just a small nail, no problem, it will work. If the conditions are met, all you need to repair your tire is:
- remove the nail or the puncture victim, if;
- unscrew the valve cap;
- remove the cover or the cover on top of the bomb;
- screw the tip of the can on the valve;
- activate the bomb;
- and replace the valve cap once the foam has completely poured out.
It’s as simple as that… even if it’s not completely finished. Because once this first operation has been carried out, we advise you to:
- drive about ten to fifteen kilometers at low speeds so that the product spreads well everywhere;
- then go and check your car’s tire pressure.
A temporary solution
The main advantage of the puncture bomb, you will understand, no need to disassemble the wheel. Also, even if your vehicle has a spare wheel, it can be useful to save time, especially if you are in a hurry.
However, the use of the product does not exempt you from going to a professional. On the contrary, this solution is only short-lived, go quickly to a repairer so that he can see the condition of your tire (which he will most likely advise you to change) and do not drive fast or on long distances with a simple bomb.
The bomb can be supplied with your vehicle. If this is not the case, you can buy them easily and at an affordable price, generally count less than 10 €. Check that it is compatible with all types of tires or, in any case, with those of your car.
