Detained by Erik Ronerfamous presenter of the MTV channel in the United States and who died tragically in 2015, the world speed record in ski towed by a car has been held since 2008.
But on February 23, Valerio Boni, a 64-year-old Italian journalist who loves thrills decided to tackle it. Equipped with giant slalom skis and towed by a Cupra Born 100% electric, so it appeared on the circuit of Cremona, Italy.
At home, the journalist was therefore able to show off his talent to beat a record as impressive as it is improbable. So without further ado, here are the pictures.
The principle is simple: by being towed by a car, the skier must maintain balance while registering the highest possible average speed.
In 2008, Erik Roner had therefore reached an average pace of 51.4 km/h over a distance of 400 meters with a standing start. For his part, Valerio Boni is came to snatch the record with a pace of 59.05 km/h over the same distance!
However, it is important to note that, even if the Italian journalist has just entered the Guinness Book with his performance, an unofficial record – because recorded on a snow-covered track – comes to us from Spain.
In 2016, Jan Farrell reached an average of 63.78 km/h being pulled by a Ferrari F458 Italia Competizione. But not being compliant, his performance was not taken into account by the jury of the Guinness Book of Records.
