Increasingly connected, our cars allow us to have access to an ever-increasing range of functions. Some, however, are very popular with drivers, and are increasingly in demand. According to a recent study conducted on a sample of 4,990 people from the four corners of the world, including France, whether a car is equipped with a system allowing it to find a nearby parking space, this is the most sought-after in-vehicle functionality for motorists around the world. It is now more appreciated than traffic information, that is to say.
Especially in China and Western Europe
Respondents were asked to rank 28 on-board features. Among the most popular of them are those related to driving that regularly come up: car owners particularly want to have traffic alerts or would like to be able to pay for their parking from their vehicle. But above all, more and more drivers are keen to find parking spaces near their homes. Generally speaking, they want parking information. In China, it is the number 1 priority for buyers. In Western Europe, it is number 2, but it follows very, very closely to number 1. And that’s what 18-24 year olds are looking for above all else. In other words, it has a fundamental place.
Motorists not keen on recreational features
What the results also show is that motorists don’t want to be distracted while driving. It’s fine to be able to write emails, spend time on social networks or play in your car, they don’t care. Duncan Licence, Product Manager of Parkopedia explains it thus: “Because the roads are more and more congested and the daily life of drivers is more hectic, we are not surprised to see that the demand for relative equipment to the route that make driving safer and easier continues to increase”.
