Strong, but also proud as a Turk: the T10X electric SUV, the first vehicle of the Togg brand, has been the subject of a tidal wave of pre-orders on its national market.
Created in 2018, the Turkish brand Togg opened the national order books on March 16 for the T10X, its electric SUV, and recorded in just four hours, according to a press release, a number of pre-orders higher than the total number of electric vehicles sold in Turkey for the whole of 2022. As of March 27, the number had climbed to 177,408 in just nine days. A fantastic figure, especially when you know that you still had to pay 60,000 TRY, or around €2,900, as a deposit to be deducted from the final price starting at €47,500.
This forced the manufacturer to change its plans: the initial idea was to organize a lottery where the first 12,000 production slots, i.e. that of the full year 2023, would have been drawn by lot, but faced with this unexpected interest , the figure rose to 20,000. The draw took place last Wednesday live on Turkey’s national channel, TRTHaber, and live on Togg’s YouTube channel.
Togg CEO Gürcan Karakaş said, “The positive feedback we received for our first smart vehicle has been overwhelming. They demonstrate not only the pride of the Turkish population in supporting local expertise, but also that a new generation of users is receptive to a new perspective on mobility and in the way they react and interact with innovative technologies. […] For now, we are focusing on deliveries for the domestic market. This unprecedented level of interest in Turkey sets the stage ahead of our planned introduction to European export markets in 2024.”
