In a video, Tesla showed the evolution of the famous “falcon” doors of the Model X. We see the mechanical complex on a Model S, before the creation of the electric SUV.
In a video, Tesla played with the “How it started vs how it’s going” social media trend. This is to show how a project started, and where it is currently. Elon Musk’s firm used this trend with the famous “falcon” doors of the Model X.
This allows us to see a very basic prototype of the now famous doors of Tesla’s electric SUV. During the first tests of the complex opening system, it was installed above a Model S. Indeed, the Model X was in development and was therefore not yet ready.
The roof of the electric sedan had been removed, so that the system was close to the roof. We see in this video that the company was first testing the possibility of moving the doors around the vehicle.
Tesla has since succeeded in miniaturizing the entire system in order to fit it into a body. However, we note that the prototype was far from being a workable version of the system, since the door did not yet seem to be hinged.
