The Mercedes Concept EQT announces the imminent arrival of a 100% electric MPV assembled in France, alongside the new Renault Kangoo.
Mercedes Concept EQT – One year before its launch, the future 100% electric minivan of the Etoile is unveiled in the guise ofa showcar close to the series. It is also an opportunity to discover the silhouette of the new T-Class which will replace the utility derivative of the Citan in a few months. Again, this model will be based on the Renault Kangoo platform, with regard to both thermal and electrical variants, and will therefore be assembled in France, in the Maubeuge factory.
Underside of Kangoo
In 2020, Mercedes had already announced the new name of his family vehicle : it will be Class T. It is therefore very logical that the future member of the EQ family, exclusively devoted to electric models, will adopt the name EQT. Like the thermal models (GLA, GLB, GLC) that the German manufacturer is used to converting to electricity (EQA, EQB, EQC), the future ludopace will adopt a specific facies, without touching the hood or the front wings, a priori. Its bow will be characterized by a grille connected to the two optics, when the T-Class distinguishes these three elements, as evidenced by our exclusive illustration.
Our illustration of the future Mercedes T-Class, expected in the coming months.
The future Mercedes EQT will offer a specific rim design, while the tailgate will be crossed out with a light signature connecting each light. But for the rest, the affiliation with the T-Class will be obvious, by offering identical frame lengths. The short version should lie on about 4.50 m, close to the rating of the new Renault Kangoo (4.47 m). But we are also waiting for the introduction ofa 7-seater version much more generous, around 4.95 m long displayed by this EQT concept.
Still little technical data
Certainly, the shortest Mercedes EQT will be satisfied with the102 hp electric motor, associated with a 44 kWh battery, which the Kangoo E-Tech Electric has already announced. But it will need a more voluntary motorization, as well as a “battery” of greater capacity to move its alter ego of around 5 meters. At the moment, Mercedes is not saying a word about it.
