Linda Jackson announces that all new models launched by Peugeot in Europe will be electric from 2030.
Here is another manufacturer who joins the clan of brands ready to go all-electric. This is Peugeot, which in turn is preparing to take the plunge. If the boss of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares is still opposed to the policy put in place by the European Union when it comes to massive electrification, he is nevertheless forced to submit to it. And for good reason, the measures aiming to ban thermal engines are intensifying at the level of Europe but also of the member countries. After Alfa Romeo and Fiat, it is therefore Peugeot’s turn to announce its desire to switch to 100% electric.
Only in europe
It was the brand’s new boss, Linda Jackson, who made the announcement, saying all new models launched from 2030 will be electric. A decision which will nevertheless concern only the European market, whereas it underlines with our colleagues ofAutomotive News that ” I would make sure to keep an internal combustion offer for our international customers “. This massive transformation of the range will be largely made possible by the adoption of the new Stellantis platform called STLA, which will be available in four versions and will accommodate zero-emission engines.
For now, the range of Peugeot is 70% electrified, whether with 100% electric or plug-in hybrid models. Among them are the e-208 and e-2008, as well as the 508 and 3008 hybrids. According to Linda Jackson, the entire catalog will have a trendy variant by 2024, while the next novelty will be the electric 3008, which will be manufactured at the historic Sochaux plant.
