Representatives of the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC) were heard before the Senate to discuss the establishment of ZFEs. The opportunity to denounce the latter and to discuss alternative measures for motorized two-wheelers.
On May 9, representatives of the French Federation of Angry Bikers were before the senators. The goal was to take part in an audition, organized by Philippe Tabarot, as part of a fact-finding mission led by this senator. This in order to debate low emission zones (ZFE). Perimeters of which are excludes certain vehicles in cities in France.
The opportunity for Jean-Philippe Ridel, coordinator of the Seine-Maritime FFMC branch, Aurélie Ronfort, executive secretary and Eric Thiollier, network facilitator, to denounce the conditions for setting up these ZFEs, for motorcycles. The organization has detailed the points discussed on its website :
“The social injustice of EPZs which excludes from mobility those who cannot afford to change vehicles” was thus mentioned. But also “the introduction of European standards for euro pollution (…) contrary to the ZFE agenda which claims to do the same at a forced march in the form of a traffic ban. »
“The FFMC has pointed out the injustice of retroactively making it illegal to use vehicles which at the time met the latest standards. She notes the difficulty in understanding local disparities in traffic restrictions, even though motorized two-wheelers are in theory not concerned by the law “on the ZFE.
The alternative measures and the technical control mentioned
Alternative measures to reduce pollution, such as use of alternative energies (hybridization, ethanol, electric, etc.), the conversion bonus for motorcycles or « comotorage » have been addressed.
The Senator also asked about the implementation of technical control in order to control pollution standards. A measure that is similar to that requested by 40 Million Motorists, who want access to the ZFE is conditional on proper compliance with the technical control by cars.
