Tesla wants to continue its establishment in several regions of the world. After the United States, China and Germany, India could host a Gigafactory.
Tesla currently has five Gigafactories around the world. Three of them are in the United States, in Reno, Nevada, Buffalo, New York, and Austin, Texas.
The first factory of the American manufacturer to set up outside the USA was that of Shanghai. The inauguration of the Chinese Gigafactory took place in January 2019. The Gigafactory Berlin project, which is located in Grünheide, took a long time to see the light of day. Between its announcement and the start of production, it took almost three years.
Recently, Tesla revealed that it has established the site of a sixth Gigafactory, this time in Mexico. This 5 billion dollar project will be established in the next few years near the city of Monterrey.
And while the sixth factory is barely in the pipeline, Elon Musk’s firm is already considering the seventh. Thus, it is in India that Tesla would now like to establish itself. This is actually an old project, which Musk had “secured” for 2021.
The Reuters agency, however, quotes a source familiar with the matter and goes in this direction: “Tesla Inc. has offered to set up a factory in India to manufacture electric cars for domestic sales and export,” the automaker told the government on Wednesday. »
