The 16th battery exchange station of Nio in Europe has started its activity. Originality, it is installed in partnership with Shell.
In the fall of 2021, Nio and Shell joined forces to develop a joint battery exchange network. First stage, China, with a first Nio station opened in the spring in a Shell station in Tongan (Xiamen).
The deployment of the partnership in Europe was planned for 2022, but the landing of Nio in Europe has taken a little delay, and the first Nio / Shell battery exchange station has only just been put into service. Credit where credit is due, it is installed in a service station in the Netherlands.
For the moment, Nio and Shell have not communicated any figures in relation to the extension of this offer in the Netherlands or in other countries. Across the continent, Nio plans to deploy nearly 1,000 of these battery exchange stations in Europe by the end of 2025. To optimize their installation, the Chinese manufacturer is multiplying partnerships. For example, it has partnered with enBW in Germany to establish itself within the fast charging network. More than 1400 are already in service in China.
