The 2023 Mercedes CLA plug-in hybrid
Next year, Mercedes will give a second episode to the EQC and will offer an electric version of the CLA chasing the Model 3 with its 640 km of autonomy.
The electric armada is on its way within the brand with the star. In September, Mercedes-Benz will unveil its new family of compact models. If the new Class A and its SUV derivative will be available in electric, it will be a first for the CLA. But this one should be different from its thermal version.
Last week, Mercedes USA unveiled its future models to dealers. This event, logically closed to the public and the media, does not provide any photos, but information has emerged via Automotive News. We learn that the electric Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan would be larger than in thermal, in order to seek the Tesla Model 3, and more streamlined. Its maximum autonomy would reach 640 km, without precision on the size of the batteries.
In the upper category, the Mercedes GLC will also have its electric counterpart. There would be no question of making it an EQC bis, because it could be an SUV derivative of the electric CLA. It would therefore be slightly closer to 4.70 m, enough to leave space for the EQE SUV (4.86 m).

And in response to the too low autonomy having penalized the first generation of the EQC (414 km max), this replacement would display approximately 480 km per charge at best. The design will also be more aerodynamic than the new GLC, existing in thermal and rechargeable hybrid. In the viewfinder, we suspect that the Tesla Model Y is targeted.
These two electric Mercedes CLA and GLC will arrive in dealerships in 2024. It is too early to mention prices and versions, but their names could abandon the EQ nomenclature. The German brand should therefore choose an alternative to the potential EQC and EQC SUV.
