The Vietnamese manufacturer VinFast sees its sales increase in this year 2023. This allows it to hope to go into the green quickly financially.
VinFast has set a sales target of 50,000 electric cars for the year 2023, according to its founder. This would be around seven times more than 2022 sales for the Vietnamese firm. Indeed, VinFast sold 7,400 electric vehicles over the whole of last year.
If he succeeds, the manufacturer will thus be able to achieve his financial objective, namely to put his finances back in the green. For the moment, Pham Nhat Vuong recalls that the company, which has just arrived in France, is therefore still in deficit.
“When the market is robust again and overall sentiment improves, VinFast will bring back some financial joy”, Vuong said at the company’s annual conference. We therefore understand that it is time for caution on the side of VinFast. Nevertheless, he assured that financial balance is possible for 2024, “if all goes as planned”.
The increase in sales of electric vehicles, crucial in its plan, should help it. In addition, he announced that two new vehicles should soon join the brand’s range.
The first will be an electric pickup, certainly to compete with Ford, Tesla or even Rivian. The second will be a very small ‘zero emission’ city car, with a starting price of around 12,000 euros.
