The Sino-British firm never ceases to panic the counters. While it sold about 13,000 cars on the French market last year, its new compact called MG4 should, on its own, approach this score by the end of the year. In fact, over the first four months of 2023, it has already sold nearly 3,500 units, and continues to ramp up to the point of being more or less in line with the commercial scores of the Tesla Model 3. Revenues of its success: a well-built car, aggressive prices, and the familiar image of its famous coat of arms, despite its 100% Chinese governance. All the builders of the Middle Empire, present in our latitudes, cannot say the same. Aiways, for example, is experiencing major financial problems, while BYD is embarking on a long quest for notoriety.
An avalanche of new MGs
Thus, it is a real boulevard which seems to open up to MG, in the medium term. A dynamic that the manufacturer wishes to maintain with a lot of new products, some of which have high added value such as the 100% electric Cyberster roadster or the high-performance version of the MG4. Such a variant already exists on its native lands, with around 400 hp at stake for the one that its parents have soberly baptized Mulan, named after the legendary Turkish-Mongolian warrior. According to our colleagues fromAuto Express which relay this information, there would also be talk of a redesign of the ZS SUV so that its features reflect those of the MG4. A compact which, decidedly, asserts itself as the flagship model of the range, so much so that it will also be available in a station wagon silhouette, during 2024.
