Here we are ! The title of world champion will be played this Sunday on the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. Tied on points in the standings, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will have to decide. But by the way, how much will the winner get?
Besides the glory and the satisfaction of winning the title of world champion, the pilots also each have a bonus in their sights. Indeed, the two men both have a clause in their contract promising them a nice sum in case of victory.
For Max Verstappen, it would be a first since the Dutchman has never won an F1 world championship before. His stable, Red Bull, has therefore undertaken to pay him a bonus of around 10 million euros in the event of a title. A magnificent bonus that would be added to his already very impressive salary of 20 million euros.
Hamilton in History?
For his part, the Briton Lewis Hamilton could become the most successful driver of all time. Currently seven-time world champion like Michael Schumacher, the pilot Mercedes hopes to add an eighth trophy to its already packed shelf.
But that’s not all. Indeed, Sir Lewis Hamilton to renegotiate his contract last February. And in addition to the 45 million euros contract, the Briton added a bonus in the event of victory in the drivers’ standings. It is the first time that Mercedes accepts but beware, the sum is juicy. Because yes, King Lewis could receive some 25 million euros in case of victory this Sunday, just that.
Of course all these amazing sums will not be in the minds of the two pilots when they face each other for the last time this season in a Grand Prix which promises to be dantesque.
