Unions of VTC drivers negotiate the payment of the “approach time” of customers, which could increase the price of the races.
This is a subject that could change the lives of users of VTC platforms. That of approach time price, when drivers pick up a customer. The latter are not paid within this period of time, unlike taxis. But that could change in the future.
So, a minimum hourly rate could be put in place for drivers, as for private sector employees. The latter would trigger from the moment they agree to take on a client. Currently, the gross hourly minimum wage is €11.52. However, VTC drivers expect more. Witness Grégoire Leclercq, president of the National Federation of Autoentrepreneurs (FNAE), at the Parisian :
“We hope, for our part, that the hourly rate will be at least 15 euros gross. But we are not all in agreement between trade unions. »
Users will not pay for everything
The platforms argue that users will not pay for everything. This is so as not to slow down the market. The rate will in any case allow users to suffer less from a race cancellation, for lack of approach time. When the latter is too important, VTC drivers tend to turn away from these customers.
This new phase of negotiations comes after a first step forward at the start of the yearfor drivers. A minimum price per trip of 7.65 euros has been put in place by the platforms. This represents a minimum of nine euros for individuals, with the addition of platform commissions.
At Uber, for example, the minimum price for a trip on the application has risen to €10.20 in February. At Heetch, no particular change, the CEO Teddy Pellerin had specified at the end of last year that their minimum rate was “already over €8.50 net”.
