A Lada Niva dating from 1980, certainly low mileage and immaculate, but offered for the modest sum of 23 million rubles (a little less than 268,000 €), yes, yes, it is possible!
Spend a small sum to afford a model registered more than 40 years ago and having hardly rolled, why not. We must not, however, make fun of the world all the same… On the site auto.ruour colleagues from Carscoops have spotted this little gem: a Lada Niva registered in 1980, with only 220 km on the odometer, and displayed 23 million rubles, or the equivalent of €267,557.13 at the current exchange rate! You had to dare! We wish good luck to the owner of this certainly quite exceptional Niva.
Le Ni(r)va(na) ?
If you feel like it, and the wallet follows, you will have to go to Togliatti, in Russia, not far from the AvtoVAZ factory where this model has been assembled since 1977, to pick it up. 1977, 1980, you will have understood, this is one of the very first series. Its characteristics have hardly changed over time. If the 4-cylinder models on sale today have a displacement of 1.7, compared to 1.6 on this 1980 example, the power is almost the same: 75 hp compared to 81 hp for the current Niva. And already, at the time, it was an all-terrain, a real one, equipped with a permanent four-wheel drive.
As you can judge for yourself by admiring the photos, the model is indeed in near mint condition. The bodywork is impeccable, the interior too, with some elements even still partly protected by the plastic sheets present at the time of delivery. Nothing to say either about the cleanliness of the mechanical elements, the suspension, the wheels, etc. A passage to the garage and a complete control is essential all the same beforehand.
The owner is also in possession of the original invoice, he is able to prove that this model dates from 1980. In short, for lovers of Niva, and old, this copy is a bit of the Holy Grail.
A losing battle
But why spend so much when you can afford a new Lada Niva for 27 times less? Yes, yes, the Niva is still produced in Russia, its production has never stopped. Starting price: 821,900 rubles, €9,575.21.
