Private radar cars spreading little by little in new departments, the number of controls and PV explodes.
Privatized radar cars are spreading in more and more departments in France. With this, the number of PV distributed each year explodes. According to estimates of Radars Autothe bar of 13 million checks carried out by these vehicles would have been exceeded last year.
For this, Radars Auto bases itself on the official figures published by the Ministry of the Interior for the year 2021. 721 checks are carried out every day in a department. The latter are finally present in 53 French departments.
However, two nuances emerge: first, all radar cars did not enter service in new departments on January 1. It happened gradually between January 3 in Nièvre and July 1 in Jura. However, the figure of 13 million could be exceeded, since Road Safety has the will to increase the number of kilometers traveled by radar cars in the oldest privatized departments.
Cards to better flash
This is all the more accentuated by the fact that the prefectures have departmental maps. These latter allow consult a lot of information (speeds operated, traffic, etc.). This is to establish routes passing through the most profitable routes.
The goal is to make controls even more effective for drivers of radar cars. This even though the violation rate stood at 8.2% in 2021. This can explain an increase in PV in many departments (+65% in Loir-et-Cher between 2021 and 2022, +53.8% in Maine-et-Loire, +66% in Indre-et-Loire ).
Remember that from January 1, 2024, minor speeding will no longer be penalized by the loss of a point on the driving license. The fine will, however, be retained, which should make it possible to break the record of €824.4 million generated in 2017.
