Be careful if you plan to hit the road during this Ascension weekend, as the roads should be very congested. Check out all of Bison Futé’s predictions for the next few days.
While confinement ended a few days ago, signing the disappearance of the 10-kilometer rule, the French want to take to the sea more than ever. And it is not the gloomy forecasts that should deter them from taking advantage of the Ascension weekend which happens, quite the contrary. Indeed, many motorists are planning to hit the road, starting today, to reach the Mediterranean coasts and more generally the south of France. The opportunity to escape after long winter months and two successive confinements, not to mention the many health restrictions, about to be relaxed in the coming weeks. But before hitting the road, check out Bison Futé’s predictions for the next few days.
Before anything else, know that the ideal is to leave before 8 a.m. or after 1 p.m. on Thursday, to avoid caps and if possible, leave or cross large cities between 10 and 12 hours. Overall, the motorways heading south will be the most congested, whether the A7, A9, A61, A43 and 48, until 7 p.m. Because let’s not forget that the curfew is still in force, and that weekend departures and traffic jams are no excuse to deviate from it, under penalty of a fine of 135 €. If the roads will be generally calm this Friday and Saturday throughout France, Bison Futé sees on the other hand red throughout the territory in the direction of the returns. Again, it will be better to leave very early, if possible before 11 am, otherwise you will be stranded on the road all day.
