Tesla is suspending orders for its Model S and Model X everywhere except North America, despite the electric duo’s recent restyling.
Tesla seems to be a victim of his own success. The American manufacturer announced to its customers by means of an email that orders for Model S and Model X were suspended for the moment in all markets except North America.
Restyled in January, the two models were to arrive in dealerships in February 2021 but finally put their wheels in some showrooms from June. Significant delays, supplemented by the massive arrival of Model 3 and Model Y on all markets, and in particular in Europe where it is a hit. Tesla, who therefore seems overwhelmed, has decided to prioritize the North American market for the Model S and X, and to no longer take orders to honor scheduled deliveries.
Orders stopped except in North America
In the email received by some customers and relayed by our colleagues d’Electrek, Tesla confirms his delay and apologizes. The manufacturer says deliveries of models already ordered will take place from the second half of 2022, and that orders outside the USA and Canada are therefore stopped for the moment in order to better control the flow. The price of the cars ordered will be in accordance with the pricing in effect at the time of the order, unless the configuration is changed in the meantime. The American manufacturer offers a full refund for those who do not wish to wait.
For the moment, the models are still in the configurator. Corn the potential delivery date has disappeared from the site, and the customer can only make a pre-order of 100 € instead of full payment for the order. The price of the configuration is no longer displayed either.
