If you plan to return from vacation between August 25 and 28, you may encounter difficulties. Bison Futé’s forecasts are indeed not good, in the sense of Returns. Last weekend of August obliges, the roads will undoubtedly be charged.
This will begin on Friday 25, with a territory classified as difficult circulation. The Mediterranean side of the country will however be classified as very difficult traffic conditions. A start, before the day of Saturday, which promises to be much more difficult.
Indeed, the very difficult traffic will reach the whole country from Saturday. This before a return to difficult traffic on Sunday 27. Similar situation on Monday August 28, with one exception: Île-de-France. This territory will remain in circulation very difficult.
How to avoid traffic jams in the direction of Returns?
In order to avoid or better manage difficulties, Bison Futé gives some advice on his site. Here are these:
Friday August 25
- reach or cross Île-de-France before 2 p.m.;
- avoid the A10 motorway between Bordeaux and Orléans between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.;
- avoid the A63 motorway between Spain and Bayonne between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.;
- avoid the A7 motorway between Marseille and Lyon between 10 a.m. and midnight;
- avoid the A8 motorway between Nice and Aix-en-Provence between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.;
- avoid the A9 motorway between Spain and Orange between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.;
- access to France via the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205) will be dense from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Saturday August 26
- reach or cross Île-de-France before 2 p.m.;
- avoid the N165 motorway between Quimper and Nantes from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.;
- avoid the A10 motorway between Bordeaux and Orléans between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.;
- avoid the A63 motorway between Spain and Bayonne between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m.;
- avoid the A7 motorway between Marseille and Lyon between 10 a.m. and midnight;
- avoid the A8 motorway between Nice and Aix-en-Provence between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.;
- avoid the A9 motorway between Narbonne and Montpellier between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.;
- access to France via the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205) will be dense from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday August 27
- reach or cross Île-de-France before 12 noon;
- avoid the A10 motorway between Bordeaux and Orléans between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.;
- avoid the A63 motorway between Spain and Bayonne between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.;
- avoid the A7 motorway between Marseille and Lyon between 9 a.m. and midnight;
- avoid the A8 motorway between Nice and Aix-en-Provence between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.;
- avoid the A9 motorway between Narbonne and Montpellier between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.;
- avoid the A71 motorway between Clermont-Ferrand and Orléans between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.;
- avoid the A61 motorway between Narbonne and Toulouse between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.;
- access to France via the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205) will be dense from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Monday August 28
- reach or cross Île-de-France before 2 p.m.;
- avoid the A10 motorway between Tour and Orléans between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.;
- avoid the A63 motorway between Spain and Bayonne between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.;
- avoid the A7 motorway between Marseille and Lyon between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.
- avoid the A8 motorway between Nice and Aix-en-Provence between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.;
- access to France via the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205) will be dense from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
What about the meaning of Departures?
On the Departures side, the situation is getting much better now. Thus, traffic will be difficult on Saturday throughout the territory. And that’s all. Friday, Sunday and Monday, the latter will be normal in the whole of France, in this sense. Bison Futé, however, gives some advice, in order to face Saturday at best:
Saturday August 26
- leave or cross Île-de-France and major cities before 10 a.m.;
- avoid the national N165 between Nantes and Quimper between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.;
- avoid the A7 motorway between Lyon and Marseille between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.;
- avoid the A61 motorway between Toulouse and Narbonne between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.;
- access to Italy via the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205) will be dense between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
