Zapping Two Wheels Auto Moto Peugeot scooter XP400 test: the first maxi scooter from the lion brand!
A year ago, the Canadian off-road vehicle manufacturer prepared its return to the motorcycle scene with the electric ‘Origin’ and ‘Pulse’ models topping its two-wheeler lineup. Can-Am has just released a few photos that show the prototypes of its two-words, in near-production condition. So, do we like?
Origin: the all-terrain vehicle by Can-Am
The ‘Origin’ model is Can-Am’s answer to dirt bikes. With its 21/18 inch spoked rims, it seems clearly focused on off-road practice and adventure. Its suspension system is made up of an inverted fork at the front and a single rear shock absorber in the central position, while a single disc at the front equips the bike, as on many off-road machines. One of the characteristics that should appeal to pilots is the smooth and precise power, even in low-speed driving situations, this is in any case what the manufacturer promises. No excess of power when accelerating for more control on surfaces where grip is difficult to manage.
The Origin also seems to adopt a reasonable size, like an enduro motorcycle, rather than going on a trail concept like the Zero DSR/X. Less versatility, but a concept resolutely oriented “pleasure” and pure off-road practice.
Pulse: for the city
Can-Am is also thinking of urban dwellers with the Pulse roadster, smaller than the adventurer version, the Pulse is equipped with cast aluminum spoke wheels, shorter travel suspensions and a lower seat height for more comfort. daily.
Can-Am goes electric for its comeback
Can-Am’s return to motorcycling, we had already talked about it on Auto-Moto.com. A bold choice but one that corresponds to the identity of the Canadian manufacturer and the new DNA it wishes to adopt: “We draw on our engineering know-how to transmit the same degree of performance attached to our Can-Am all-terrain vehicles. and on the road, to our electric motorcycles. We consider all the possibilities, the spirit inhabited by the need to perform. Every detail is analyzed, redesigned, adjusted, optimized to offer a perfectly balanced ride. Excellence is achieved by outperforming, and focusing on what will thrill the end user,” says Can-Am on its new website dedicated to motorcycles.
As a result, both models will be powered by Can-Am’s all-new Rotax E-Power technology. Although exact numbers have yet to be released, Can-Am says these electric motorcycles will hit highway-friendly speeds, while delivering generous power and torque. Both bikes will also feature high-performance LED headlights, a single-sided swingarm, large TFT display and Level 2 charging capability.
When is the future with Can-Am?
Still at the prototype stage, little is known about the technical characteristics of these motorcycles. Autonomy will also be a critical point to know in order to judge their relevance. But the future is near and Can-Am plans to deliver the first motorcycles from the summer of 2024, which means that the project is close to its production phase as confirmed by the images in the video.
We will therefore continue to follow its evolution and until then, we let you watch the video in question:
