[EN VIDÉO] Deep learning and machine learning: what’s the difference? Deep learning and machine learning both use artificial intelligence.
Admit it, for fifteen years, the password that protects most of your online accounts has not changed, and it is the name of your first pet. You know it’s reckless, but it’s so practical. However, the invention ofa team of British researchers might just change your mind: an algorithm deep learning capable of listening to and recognizing laptop computer keystrokes using the built-in microphone of a nearby smartphone. It can then convert these sounds by associating them with the keys of the keyboard, and thus have access to your sensitive data: passwords, private messages, bank details… All with 95% accuracy! One limitation: it is not (yet) able to distinguish uppercase letters from lowercase letters, and numbers from special characters.
With this finding developed through open access tools on the market, the researchers hope to raise awareness of computer security and develop new protections for users. It is already possible to install software that disturbs the listening of the algorithm by adding random sounds when entering texts.
