On the occasion of the Pebble Beach Competition, an independent designer revived a legend with the Plymouth Superbird 2045 EV Concept.
While a few builders took advantage of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegence to present new products, the event was a unique opportunity for a designer to get noticed. This is precisely the case of Hayden Ahnwhich revived the Plymouth Superbird with an electric motor.
But there is no question of retrofitting here, since this concept was entirely imagined from a blank sheet, and materialized in the form of a model for the moment. This does not prevent its designer from highlighting the specificities of its sports car, with some fun design details.
The Plymouth Superbird 2045 EV Concept will not see the light of day
If the futuristic lines contrast sharply with those of the original, this Plymouth Superbird 2045 EV Concept leaves no doubt about its inspirations, however. And this is particularly the case in Track mode, which deploys the gigantic rear wing and lengthens the muzzle for better penetration in the air. In Road mode, all the elements retract, for a less harmonious silhouette.
The designer Hayden Ahn did not specify the technical sheet of his concept. But he nevertheless imagined an architecture with a pair of electric machines on the rear axle. Perhaps we could imagine a powertrain borrowed from the Dodge Charger Daytona EV, with a total output of almost 1,000 hp? If it is allowed to dream, we find it hard to believe in a realization of this project under the supervision of Stellantis…
