Failing to actually start production of its electric vehicles, Canoo continues to offer new versions. Now here is a third van, the Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle 190.
Apart from a few symbolic units delivered to NASA for future Artemis missions, Canoo production has not really started yet. The small start-up nevertheless seeks to attract new potential customers by developing new versions. We already had the minivan, derived as a pick-up as well as two vans. The first, the LDV 130, was directly derived from the monospace, simply deprived of its windows in the rear part, the second more imposing is the MDPV.
Between the two, Canoo now adds the LDV 190. Like its little brother 130, it derives from the Lifestyle minivan, whose rounded front section is found, and an unchanged wheelbase. The rear section is now more typical of a van, guaranteeing a greater volume (172 cubic feet, or almost 5 cubic meters). The novelty is not only in this vertical pencil stroke.
The rear of the LDV 190 is indeed composed of what Canoo describes as an “interchangeable cassette”. A new feature that makes it easy to choose different types of rear doors: classic hinged doors, tailgate with access ramp or rolling shutter.
In a delicate financial situation, Canoo still hopes to formally launch production of customer copies before the end of the year. The company nevertheless confirmed during the presentation of its quarterly financial results that it still had doubts about its ability to continue its operations in the next 12 months.
