Honda has reopened order books for its hybrid Civic. But prices have soared: the entry ticket has gone from 32,400 to 39,220 €!
A little over a year ago, Honda put the new generation of the Civic, equipped with a hybrid engine, on sale here. Immediate success! The builder was overwhelmed by demand, to the point that it quickly suspended orders.
A suspension which lasted for many months, the manufacturer wishing to allow time to honor the orders placed, before taking new ones. The situation has improved, all customers waiting for a model will soon be delivered. And Honda was therefore able to reopen the order books for its compact. With however a bad surprise in the key for those who were interested in the model.
Prices have indeed skyrocketed. At launch, the base Executive model cost €32,400. It is now €39,220, an increase of €6,820! The Sport went from 33,700 to 40,580 €. For the high-end Advance, it is no longer €37,100 but €43,920.
To explain this, the brand highlights an increase in production costs and an increase in transport costs. From there to justify nearly 7,000 € increase in one year, while other brands, for example Renault, indicate that the situation on the cost of materials is improving a little…
With this increase, the Civic clearly loses the advantage of its good price positioning. The Executive model was a bargain at €32,400, with a 184 hp hybrid block and already generous equipment. This equipment remains generous basic, with for example the adaptive regulator, the heated front seats or the navigation. But at more than €39,000, the competition is regaining interest. A Toyota Corolla hybrid of 196 hp is thus at 38,700 € with its GR Sport finish.
