Mercedes has announced the opening of its first ultra-fast charging stations for this fall, in Europe, China and the United States.
Integrated into the Ionity consortium, Mercedes will also have its own network of charging stations. He had made the announcement at the very beginning of the year, during the CES in Las Vegas. The opening of the first stations is approaching.
The manufacturer has just indicated that it will be this fall, unveiling the first locations: Atlanta in the United States, Chengdu in China and Mannheim in Germany. France should also be concerned by the end of this year, this is in any case what a manager of the brand had suggested a few months ago. By the end of 2024, Mercedes plans to deploy 2,000 charging points worldwide. At the end of the decade, it will be 10,000.
These stations will be installed in high traffic areas or at brand showroom level. If Mercedes does not intend to associate VIP spaces as Porsche will do with its stations, the manufacturer with the star indicates that the stations will offer basic amenities (what to cool off or snack on, toilets). Most will be equipped with an awning, with poles integrating a light indication on the availability and the load.
On the terminal side, the manufacturer evokes up to 400 kW of power. The terminals will be open to everyone, but the brand’s customers will have privileged access, with the possibility of reserving a terminal in advance. They will also benefit from the Plug&Charge function.
