Elon Musk, Tesla boss, films himself with his phone while driving but does not risk anything

Elon Musk has once again stood out, and for the wrong reason. The Tesla boss filmed himself using his phone while driving on August 26. An infraction… which was not sanctioned. The latter could have been. But some conditions had to be met, which were not met in the case in question…

Indeed, Elon Musk filmed himself with his phone at the wheel of a Tesla, in Palo Alto, California. In the video, lasting no less than 45 minutes, he performed several actions. This concerned in particular the activation of the autonomous mode of the vehicle. He also once again attacked Mark Zuckerberg, boss of Meta (Facebook, Instagram).

Still, driving with a phone in hand is an offense in this state. A situation all the more dangerous as the boss of X (ex-Twitter) had to regain control of his vehicle in an emergency during this sequence.

But Elon Musk will therefore not be worried. Indeed, to receive a fine, an officer must witness the action and catch the perpetrator in the act, at the time. To inflict it, an officer must be able to report to a judge what he saw. He must also check the driver’s identity and driver’s license, as well as record his license plate.

So many actions that could not be performed in the case of Elon Musk. This means that he will not be worried. If an officer had caught him, he would have risked a $20 fine for a first offense, or $50 for a repeat offense. Not enough to ruin the boss of Tesla, no doubt … Still, it triggered something that Elon Musk loves: the buzz.
