Zapping Auto Moto Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: contact with the 650 hp electric battery!
We’ll have to get used to it. If our German friends haven’t finished with their motor show (the IAA for short, or “Internationale Automobil Ausstellung” in its long form) and if it still opens its doors to the public towards the end of in summer or early autumn in odd years (in even years, it happens here, in Paris), this one has not been held since the previous edition (that of 2021) in Frankfurt . No, now it’s in Munich, the “Heimat” (“homeland” or “home” in Goethe’s language) of BMW, that you can stock up on new things. Whether you want to go there or you are simply curious to know what is planned, you can find all the information about this event updated as regularly as possible in this article. Here’s everything we know so far.
Mainly German and… Chinese manufacturers
The dates have been known since last November. From this point of view, no surprise. This year, you will have to go to the capital of Bavaria between September 5 and 10.
Just as the Mondial de Paris gives pride of place to French cars, it is the German ones that will have the scoop on the other side of the Rhine, we will not be surprised there either. Audi, BMW (and Mini), Mercedes (and Smart), Porsche and even Volkswagen will obviously be there. Other major manufacturers, but in enemy territory, Cupra, Ford or Renault.
However, there is a detail that is not one and that may disconcert more than one… well, not that much if you went to the Paris World Cup last year. As was the case on this occasion, Chinese manufacturers and Asian brands in general will be present in large numbers. Among the brands that have already announced their arrival, we can count on BYD, Leapmotor, or Seres, already known in our latitudes, but also Dongfeng and Hongqi, of which you are certainly unaware of the existence.
The complete list of manufacturers present, all the expected novelties
We may be a few days away from the event, but all the manufacturers have not yet announced their official program. If the premium Germans will be on conquered ground, it will be a minimum program at Audi with the presentation of the restyled Q8. On the BMW stand, you can admire a concept prefiguring the brand’s future electric vehicles or an armored i7. Also in the BMW Group, the next-generation Mini Countryman and Cooper will make their debut. Mercedes announced a few days ago that it was going to present a concept foreshadowing its future entry-level model. We will also discover the All Terrain SUV variant of the latest E-Class. We will also finally be able to discover Smart’s coupe SUV, the #3.
Let’s go back to the generalist constructors. At Opel, the only group brand of the Stellantis group to be present on site, the Experimental concept announcing the future Manta will be exhibited alongside the restyled Corsa and the electric variant of the Astra station wagon. At Volkswagen, the Passat SW will be the star of the stand. A concept is also expected. Also in the VW group, Cupra will show off a full-size mock-up of its Dark Rebel virtual concept.
On the side of Chinese brands, only BYD and MG announced what was planned. The first mentioned will present for the first time to the public the SUV variant of its Seal electric sedan, called Seal U. It will also unveil its premium brand Denza with a van called D9. As for MG, the Cyberster will take its first walkabout in Europe, the same for the ultra-sporty version of the zero-emission compact MG4.
The only French brand present in Munich, Renault will showcase its new zero-emission Scénic. You will be able to discover the Rafale up close. Other surprises cannot be ruled out.
