Zapping Auto Moto Alpine A110 MP-RC test: a real racing car at a good price?
For a long time, old-school automakers have been overtaken by Tesla in terms of the charging network for electric vehicles. The American has been offering a very extensive network of high-power Superchargers for several years. If they were previously reserved for Tesla models, they are now open to competition. In response, more and more builders are getting into the same business. After Mercedes, it is the turn of the Volkswagen group, through its French division, to open its own fast charging network.
Called Electrify France, the network is an initiative of Volkswagen Group France, which believes that “High Power charging, even if it is not intended to become the majority, has a place outside major roads.” It consists of nearly 150 charging stations, i.e. around 300 charging points in total, within the French dealerships of the Volkswagen group (VW, Skoda, Cupra, Seat, Audi) by summer 2024.
An installation planned in a large part of the network in France
Although it is located in the group’s concessions, it is not reserved for vehicles of different brands. The terminals will be accessible to everyone 7 days a week and 24 hours a day, with regular maintenance. Volkswagen specifies that each station will be equipped with at least one fast charging station, with a guaranteed power of 150 kW. The group estimates that the largest station will be able to go up to 12 fast charging points. For the moment, we do not yet know the exact distribution of the charging stations, nor the price of charging. See you in the coming months to find out more.

To sum up
Overtaken for a long time in the field of electricity by Tesla, the historic car manufacturers are responding: new, more efficient models, but also dedicated charging networks. This is the case of Volkswagen, which is launching the Electrify network within its French dealerships.
