Presented almost a year ago, the SSC-01 electric sports car is not just a dream. Prototypes close to the production version were surprised in China.
Last September, Tianjin Gongjiangpai Auto Technology presented its small electric coupé, under the SSC brand (Smart Sports Car), or XiaoPaoChe (小跑车) in Chinese. A sport wanted as compact (4.00 m long) and affordable (estimated price from 300,000 RMB (38,200 €). Remember that Xiaomi is high on the list of investors and that Liu Dezheng, co-founder of the telephone producer, is a member of the management committee.
The development continues to progress and the prototypes in fairly light camouflage clothing are currently undergoing their climatic tests. These photos were taken by the brand’s co-founder and boss, Feng Xiaotong, in the Talamakan desert. A test place very popular with manufacturers. The SC-01 thus appears alongside sedans and SUVs which seem to be the Hongqi E001 and E202 presented in concept form at the Shanghai Motor Show last April. In the background also appears a utility, which could be Geely’s Farizon Super Van.
Compared to the initial model, there is a new opening in the lower part at the front and the rear deflector seems less visible. The ambition was to take orders in the third quarter to deliver before the end of the year. The development took a little delay and the production of the pre-series copies has not yet started. Deliveries should therefore rather take place at the end of the second half of 2024. The arrival in Europe is not yet confirmed, but is very likely.
