Motorcycle and video game enthusiasts won’t have to wait long. This year the official game of the motorcycle speed world championship is credited with entering the fast track. While the previous opus used to land in the month of June, the one that responds to the surname of MotoGP 21 arrives in the heart of spring.
This Thursday, April 22, 2021 marks the release of MotoGP 21. It is the first time in a decade that the official game of the Motorcycle Sprint World Championship has arrived so early in the year, on a regular basis. Last year the situation was special because the start of the season had been postponed due to the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic. From then on, the developer and publisher Milestone released the 2020 vintage on April 23, i.e. three months before the start of the actual championship. Rather than reverting to a June release, the game keeps the same niche as last year. Except that this time, the season has been launched, on March 28, on the occasion of the Grand Prix of Qatar. Thus, the birth of MotoGP 21 takes place less than a month after the start of the championship and less than a month before the French Grand Prix, scheduled from May 14 to 16, 2021 on the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans.
At the time of the release of this new opus, MotoGP riders have only competed in three races, the last two of which were won by Frenchman Fabio Quartararo. Obviously, in view of its official license, this motorcycle racing simulation game features the entire 2021 season, when it comes to circuits, pilots and machines competing in the categories MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE, the latter featuring fully electric motorcycles. Technically, Milestone announces reworked suspension system offering better steering precision, without forgetting the parameters of fuel consumption, brake temperature and tire wear to be managed, as well as a realistic return of the motorcycle in case of fall, the player in front now raise his machine himself. On the regulatory side, we note the introduction of the long lap penalty (long turn) for the very first time. The career mode is extended to a new role of manager, allowing to assert his qualities of strategist when constituting his team, while the content is supplemented by a historical facet with an access given to more than 40 legendary riders and their motorcycles, as well as by five graphic editors dedicated to customization of his helmets, suits, stickers, race numbers and liveries. The developer specifies that the new generation consoles offer the leisure to enjoy a dynamic resolution up to 4K / 60FPS, improved graphics, reduced loading times and increase in the number of players per online race, the eSport concept having accelerated in 2020 with successive confinements.
