Essential elements for safety, the wiper blades must be changed regularly. Discover all our tips.
Just like tires and brake pads, the wiper blades are consumables, which it is important to replace regularly, in order to drive safely. Sensitive to wear, these deteriorate more or less quickly, and must therefore be the subject of special attention. The ideal is then to change them every six months, in the fall and in the spring, when the heat and the cold tend to damage them more quickly. The goal is then that they are fully operational for the periods when they will be the most requested, ie in winter, when the bad weather is strongest and in summer, in order to be quiet during the holidays.
How do you know when to change them?
But it is obviously possible that you should also change them during the year, especially if you have kept them too long. So how do you know when it’s time to buy new ones? It’s simple, you will see, because there are signs that do not deceive:
- They make noise when in use
- They wipe poorly or leave marks on the windshield
- Blades are torn or irregular
If one of these three cases occurs, it is then very strongly recommended that you change your wiper blades quickly. In addition, some are equipped with wear indicators, allowing you to know precisely when to replace them. In addition, and beyond the danger of brushes in bad condition, they also risk damaging your windshield durably by scratching it.
