We suspected a little that the Chinese manufacturers, many of whom came to the Munich Motor Show which is being held at the moment, were not only there to make up the numbers. It was obviously a question of expansion on the European continent.
In this case, one of them has already announced that after setting up in Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden, he was going to settle in Germany, the United Kingdom as well as at home, in France, from next year, it is XPENG, a very young brand born in 2014.
Two or even three models at launch
The information was confirmed by two of our colleagues, the British magazine Autocar as well as the very serious site Automotive News Europe. To be confirmed by us, it goes without saying. A priori, however, there is no reason for this not to be the case, even if the press release today by the manufacturer only speaks of a simple arrival Germany.
There, two 100% electric models will be offered around the beginning of 2024. A large sedan with the name of 4.88 m long which takes the name of P7 as well as an equally bulky SUV called G9 (4, 89m). With the latter, it would only take about twenty minutes to recharge the battery with a capacity of 98 kWh from 10% to 80% thanks to its fast charge of 300 kW (!) and its 800V architecture. An argument that could hit the mark. It is given for 570 km of autonomy on the WLTP cycle in its best configuration (propulsion).
400V architecture only for the sedan, but the charging power is not ridiculous either (175 kW). Sufficient in any case to recover from 10% to 80% autonomy in less than 30 minutes, according to XPENG. Autonomy climbs to 576 km (still in propulsion).
Versions with all-wheel drive are also available, but above all they allow these two models to display super sports performance. The G9, with all the same 551 hp in its peak version, performs the exercise from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 s! The sedan, a little less powerful (527 hp) is barely worse with 4.1 s.
It is not excluded that the G6, an SUV-coupe presented recently, will join the range thereafter. What could be more logical when you know the success of this bodywork in our regions. Follow very closely.
