Last Sunday, Enea Bastianini was caught in a pileup he caused at the start of the first corner of the Catalunya Grand Prix. Involved despite themselves in this crash, Johann Zarco, Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio came out without injury, while Marco Bezzecchi complained of pain in his left hand and right leg.
Conversely, the official Ducati rider suffered two fractures, one on the malleolus of the left ankle, and the other on the left hand, at the level of the second metacarpal. These injuries, which required surgery on Monday evening, prevent him from participating in the event at Misano next weekend, but not only.
Pass for the GPs of San Marino, India and Japan
Indeed, the Ducati Lenovo Team has just revealed the duration of the unavailability of number 23. This concerns the next three rounds of the MotoGP season, namely the San Marino GP (September 10), the GP of India (September 24) and the Japanese GP (October 1).
Consequently, the return of Enea Bastianini to the handlebars of his machine in Grand Prix is not expected before the stage in Indonesia, on October 15th. Ducati has not yet decided on the identity of his replacement, a role which could go to Danilo Petrucci or Michele Pirro, already approached by the transalpine manufacturer at the start of the season.
