Like Fiat and Citroën, Opel will offer an electric car for less than €25,000. But it will arrive well after its cousins from Stellantis.
At the Munich Motor Show, Opel exhibits the restyled electric Corsa. This is already available for order, with an entry ticket of €36,050. A price that remains high. To find cheaper at Opel, you will have to be patient.
In Munich, Florian Huettl, boss of the lightning brand, announced the arrival of a more affordable model. Its attack price should be under €25,000, without taking into account purchase aid. But this vehicle will not be launched before 2026. Rather logical, because we imagine that it will take over from the current generation of the Corsa. This one has therefore just been restyled and is thus at mid-career.

Opel will therefore be a little behind its generalist cousins from Stellantis. Citroën will indeed unveil in October its ambitious electric C3 promised at less than 25,000 € with 300 km of autonomy. For Fiat, it will be July 2024, with a similar promise. The two vehicles will share the same platform, called “Smart Cars”, which is a simplified version of the base of… the electric Corsa (or even the 208).
The future entry-level Opel could take over this base. Unless by then, Stellantis has finished developing the new STLA Small platform, a platform dedicated to the group’s urban electric models.
From 2024, the entire Opel range will be available in electric, with the launch of a connected version of the replacements for the Crossland and Grandland. The Opel boss said that from 2025 new models will be electric only. This will be the year of the launch of the Manta, an indirect sequel to the Insignia, prefigured in Munich by the Experimental concept.
