The Honda clan has not been spared from injuries this season, whether it is the official team or Team LCR. In turn, Marc Marquez, Joan Mir and Alex Rins had to decide to forfeit one or more events.
If the Marquez/Mir world champion pair is operational, the return of Alex Rins to the handlebars of the Honda satellite is still awaited. Indeed, the winner of the Grand Prix of the Americas is not sufficiently recovered from fractures in the right leg, at the level of the fibula and the tibia.
Three potential replacements unavailable
Two days before the first practice of the San Marino Grand Prix, Lucio Cecchinello’s team has no choice but to confirm its withdrawal. Injured on June 10 during the sprint race of the Italian GP at Mugello, Alex Rins has to skip a 7th consecutive race weekend.
The choice of his replacement at Misano was not easy, given the unavailability of Stefan Bradl, Iker Lecuona and Tetsuta Nagashima. From then on, the LCR team had to call on Takumi Takahashi, an endurance rider whose experience in MotoGP is limited to one Grand Prix, that of Japan in 2015, finished in 12th place.
As @Rins42 continues his recovery from injury, it will be HRC test rider Takumi Takahashi stepping in with @lcr_team this weekend

To sum up
Injured in the right leg during the Italian GP last June, Alex Rins is unable to participate in this weekend’s event at Misano. Short of alternatives, LCR Honda called on Takumi Takahashi, who only competed in one MotoGP race in 2015.
