Francesco Bagnaia must be fixed on his fate on this Thursday, September 7 (this article will be updated as soon as the announcement is effective). Indeed, the reigning world champion will know if he is fit to take the handlebars of his Ducati at Misano, in front of his public, within the framework of the San Marino Grand Prix.
For this, “Pecco” must receive the green light from the doctors at the end of the medical check held on the eve of the tests. As a reminder, last Sunday, in the first lap of the Catalunya Grand Prix, he had suffered a spectacular fall, coupled with a moment of fear, on the ground, when he was hit by Brad Binder’s KTM at the level of the legs.
50 points lead in the championship
Fortunately, this incident did not cause him any serious injury, not even a fracture, according to the first medical report. However, to judge his ability to run this weekend, the Italian had to submit to medical checks.
Despite his retirement from Barcelona on Sunday, Francesco Bagnaia remains a solid leader in the general classification. He has a 50-point lead over Spaniard Jorge Martin and a 71-point margin over his compatriot Marco Bezzecchi.
Francesco Bagnaia’s statement:
“Sunday evening I returned home with the team, and after having rested, I immediately started to prepare myself to be ready to return to the track at Misano. Thursday, I will undergo the medical examination on the circuit, and if, as I hope, the doctors give me the green light, I will be able to be on track Friday for the first practice of my Grand Prix at home. The San Marino GP is always a special event for us Italian riders and especially for us Ducati riders. I will do my best to be able to race on Saturday and Sunday.”
