F1 – A new grand prix in Europe, a new country on the way

In 2008 the former Formula 1 manager, Bernie Ecclestone, had the project to organize a race in Greece in the streets of Athens. But this project very quickly fell through following an economic crisis that affected the whole country. According to the Greek media NewsAuto.gr, a project to host the premier category of motorsport is currently being studied, but nothing has yet been formalized. The race could take place in Elliniko and more precisely in the streets and in the metropolitan park “The Ellinikon”. Still according to the same source, the organizers of F1 would be ready to give the green light after the presentation of the construction plans for the route. The promoters want to organize a car race without disturbing the residents, the compromise seems to have been found. The complex would combine all the characteristics of an urban layout like Monaco and Miami, with casinos, a seaside with luxury boats. The layout would be a non-permanent track. But then will this race see the light of day, answer in the months to come.
