Tesla now offers the possibility of choosing between the normal steering wheel and the yoke for the Model S and Model X. But this new option comes at a price with a somewhat expensive price tag.
In 2021 with the appearance of its yoke, Tesla made it a default choice in its two high-end models. The Model S electric sedan and the Model X SUV only had this choice available in the catalog.
Subsequently, the choice of the round steering wheel became the default, with the yoke receiving much criticism. But the latter was an option in the catalog which did not generate any additional cost on the models.
In the spring, Tesla offered American customers unhappy with the yoke to change it while flying, for the modest sum of $750. The manufacturer then offered the yoke as an option at $250.

It’s different now, the yoke is still available, but you will have to pay an additional bill of 1,000 dollars, which becomes 1,000 euros on this side of the Atlantic. The classic steering wheel is always the default option which does not incur any additional costs.
In the future, Tesla should present a version combining the two solutions. The yoke would still be available, but it would fit into a more classic steering wheel, without the rectangular side. This will also allow the brand to improve the quality of the product, which left something to be desired when it started.
