Based on the ID.7, Volkswagen has imagined a much sportier model. The brand unveils l’ID.X Performance : a 100% electric concept with 558 horsepower.
An aggressive model with 558 horsepower
The ID.X Performance concept was designed based on the new ID.7. This is a powerful and expressive model. Moreover, you can see it very quickly: one glance is enough to understand that it is a sports model. Volkswagen has focused on a particularly athletic appearance. The suspensions have been lowered and fitted with stiff springs, which makes the vehicle’s handling even more agile.
Maria Soni Reissfelder, head of marketing and sales for the ID family at Volkswagen, believes that “ it was an immense pleasure to present the ID.X Performance in front of ID family enthusiasts from all over Europe “. The brand’s engineers have done everything to maximize the potential of the MEB on the vehicle. The opportunity to show all the possibilities offered by the platform.

According to Andreas Reckewerth, Head of MEB Technology, “ it was obvious for us to base our concept on the ID.7. The goal was simple: improve the performance of the production model to make it a sporty and aggressive vehicle. “. With 20-inch alloy wheels, racing tires and a carbon spoiler, the engineers who worked on the ID.X Performance have done a great job.
ID.X Performance: a unique copy?
Inside the vehicle, we obviously find bucket seats (in carbon). A few touches of red underline the sporty characteristics of the concept. With two electric motors and 558 horsepower, you quickly understand that the power is there. Volkswagen proves that its ID.7 can pass “ from a light state to a wild state without too much difficulty ».

Little chance of seeing this model arrive on the market one day. Indeed, although many concepts are intended for production, this one will probably not come to fruition. The German manufacturer is used to developing unique examples for events organized with fans. This is precisely the case for the ID.X Performance which was presented at the ID Driver’s Club in Switzerland.
The ID.7 and the ID.2 GTI for consolation
In the meantime, fans of the ID family can console themselves with the recent marketing of the ID.7 or the announcement of an ID.2 GTI at the Munich Motor Show. Volkswagen’s new large electric sedan has joined the Volkswagen catalog in France. With a new 286 hp unit and a 77 kWh battery, it offers a range of 620 km. At the moment, only the Pro configuration of the ID.7 is available. Two possible finishes: Style and Style Exclusive.
A sedan with sophisticated aerodynamics. The ID.7 will even be the most aerodynamic electric vehicle in Volkswagen’s electric range. As Volkswagen designer Daniel Scharfschwerdt explains, “ When designing the ID.7, emphasis was placed on aerodynamics and this is evident in the low front end, the smooth transition to the hood and windshield ».

The shape of the roof, similar to that of a coupe, also allows the ID.7 to offer ideal aerodynamic performance and therefore improve its autonomy. The model also has a “ almost completely closed » to prevent air from rushing into it. The design of the rims has also been improved to prevent air from penetrating under the underbody.
On the sports side, there is also something new. To develop the ID GTI, Volkswagen drew on the history of the Golf GTI: colors, design and aesthetic touches are there. This derivative of the ID.2 therefore has the power and handling of a GTI. If the ID.2 will be priced around 25,000 euros, on the other hand you will have to pay 35,000 euros or more for this ID GTI.
