While waiting for the official presentation of the standard Maserati Grecale, photographers crossed paths with a prototype of the sports variant Trofeo during winter testing.
The presentation of the Maserati Grecale, initially scheduled for mid-November, has been postponed until spring 2022. In the meantime, the Trident firm continues to develop its model and in particular the sporty Trofeo version. A prototype was discovered in the middle of a winter test in Sweden.
The future Grecale Trofeo differs from the classic Grecale by its larger rims. The large, drilled brake discs are fitted with bright red calipers. The exhausts are specific, with two large rectangular exits worked instead of the double round exits seen on the other prototypes. The camouflage and the snow do not allow us to discover all the subtleties of the Italian SUV, and we will therefore have to wait a few more months before the official presentation.
The V6 shared with the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio
Under the hood, the Grecale Trofeo will not take over the 580 hp V8 from its big brother Levante Trofeo but a V6 2.9 biturbo shared with the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Indeed, the three models share the same technical base, the famous Giorgio platform. The V6 could on the other hand offer a power slightly higher than the 510 hp and 600 Nm of torque of the Alfa Romeo, just to keep a certain hierarchy within the group.
