McLaren seems to have made special liveries its specialty. Indeed, for the third time in 2023, the team founded by New Zealander Bruce McLaren is unveiling a new dress for its car, in preparation for the Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix, scheduled for September 17 and 24.
For the record, in Monaco then Barcelona, the first change of outfit was intended to celebrate the Triple Crown emanating from the victories successively acquired at the 1974 Indianapolis 500, the 1984 Monaco GP and the 1995 24 hours of Le Mans. Result, the color orange pawpaw only remained at the stern, giving way to white over most of the center and a little black at the front.
After white and chrome, black
At the beginning of July, on its British soil, the MCL60 had put on a new dress, very flashy this time. In order to honor the partnership in force with Google, it had logically opted for a livery rich in chrome, particularly showy.
During the two upcoming rounds, in Singapore and Suzuka, McLaren has chosen to highlight its partnership with sponsor OKX, a cryptocurrency exchange platform, whose three letters are written large on the pontoons, but also on the front and rear fins. The resulting special livery, called “Stealth Mode”, marks the arrival of a dominant black color, in contrast with the famous papaya orange.
