This is not a sale by the German manufacturer Opel, but of the 1/18 scale model of the electric Mokka offered by the Breton company Mini Express through its OttOmobile brand.
A limited series of 999 copies
During our visit to Mini Express last April, Frédérick Guillier-Sahuqué, co-founder of the OttOmobile model brand, announced to us the release before the end of 2023 of several 1/18 resin reproductions of electric cars. The Opel Mokka-e was on the list.
Being able to take charge of this reduction in the compact SUV today is therefore not really a surprise. But it is a real joy to see that it is very successful, like all of OttoO’s productions. The Matcha green two-tone livery with black roof and hood suits it particularly well.
Enough to continue a collection of acid-colored EVs on a shelf by sliding this Opel Mokka-e next to the concept of the future Renault 5 E-Tech. Now sold out from the manufacturer, the latter can still be found for between 80 and 100 euros on Le Bon Coin. It will soon be the same for the electric Mokka duplicated in a limited series of only 999 copies.
Very high fidelity
If Ottomobile’s reproductions are so faithful to the real cars down to the details, it is in particular because the manufacturer goes out of his way to request the original plans and uses resin. On the other hand, the doors, hood and tailgate cannot be opened. The charging hatch is clearly outlined, as well as the logo, the model name and the small “e” in the B pillar which distinguish it with its electric motor.
OttO has chosen German registration plates, but points out on its website that the vrai Opel Mokka-e, open to order since October 2020, is built at the Stellantis factory in Poissy, in Yvelines. So made in France, it shares with the DS 3 Crossback e-Tense not only the eCMP platform, but also the same production lines.
At the wheel of the compact SUV, the filtering and softness of the suspension in town are a very pleasant surprise. This statically invisible point on a scale model is not taken into account on its 1/18 clone: it is not a toy, but a collector’s item to be preferably placed away from dust in a showcase.
A courageous turn
More than ten years ago, the pioneers of electric mobility often had to endure a large number of criticisms. If this is still the case today, the ever-increasing number of motorists who have become electromobilists is reducing the phenomenon and providing a real balance.
When we learned that OttOmobile was opening up more to EVs in 2023, after a first attempt three years earlier with the Peugeot e-Legend concept, we imagined that the company would be entitled to its share of dissatisfied people. The message titled “OttO is coming out!” », broadcast on August 2, and signed by Frédérick Guillier-Sahuqué, shows that this is indeed the case, precisely with the compact SUV bearing the lightning bolt.
Here is an excerpt: “ We received a lot of criticism following the presentation of the Opel Mokka-e. I love the look of this car; When I first saw it during a visit to JP Performance, I fell in love with this model. Afterwards, making it in an electric or thermal version didn’t necessarily seem like a problem in itself; on the contrary, for once an electric car was identical to its thermal car version, it was worth highlighting this fact ».

Avant to Manta GSe ElectroMOD
To fans of old cars in particular and to his customers in general, the director of OttO opened up about the Opel Mokka-e: “ Its look reminds us of the famous Manta A with its matte black hood “. This is exactly the image I have of this compact SUV every time I pass it.
And that’s why I tried this electric car myself with a view to perhaps adopting it one day. In the meantime, I fell for the 1/18 reproduction. Especially since the manufacturer plans to soon add the Manta GSe ElectroMOD.
The shelf for lining up the trendy 1/18 scale models from OttOmobile will not be sad when it is completed: Peugeot e-Legend, Renault 5 E-Tech, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance, Opel Mokka-e and Manta GSe ElectroMOD, etc. An approach that I personally encourage.
